The Cadets split a double header with Sturgis JV at
Fitzgerald Stadium Wednesday night. The Cadets dropped the first game
5-4 and came back and took the nightcap 9-6. In the first game, the score was tied 3-3 in the 5th inning, but in the top of the frame, Sturgis managed to scratch across 2 runs-putting them in front 5-3. The Cadets threatened to make a push for the win in the bottom of the 7th but were unable to score. Brady Wauer took a tough loss as he pitched 6 brilliant innings with great control with his fast ball and curve ball. Coach Yamada was very pleased with Wauer's outing. "Brady had command of both of his pitches tonight. He was able to mix it up and throw key pitches in key situations. He really competed tough tonight. He doesn't deserve a loss with an outing like that." In the second game, the Cadets gave up 5 runs in the first inning and were trailing 6-0 after 3. The Cadets used a huge 4th inning scoring 5 to get back in the game. In the 4th Wauer grounded out to short; Steven Habib then singled. After Jake Ferdinand reached on a fielders choice, there were 5 consecutive base hits by Daly, Minnick, Bolton, Grimshaw and Reinhardt. When the hit parade was over, the Cadets were behind 6-5. Using the help of a failed bunt attempt turned into a double play, starter Ty Daly shut out the Titans in the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th, the Cadets scored 4 runs to go up 9-6. After that it was all Ty Daly. Daly then retired the last six batters in order for the complete game win. Coach Yamada said "Ty struggled in the first. He couldn't get his slider over and they were sitting on his fast ball. After he found his slider and hit his spots with both pitches, he was very effective. Matt (Minnick) also called a great game. He and Ty really worked well together tonight." The Cadets are back in action this weekend co-hosting with the Bullets the Top Hitter Tournament. The Cadets will play their first game of the tournament Friday at 7:30. 4-5 9-6 |

In the top of the 5th, Spearfish scored another run to make it a 2 run lead. In the bottom of the 5th, the Cadets came back and tied the contest 4-4.
