The Bullets Not Rained Out; Win Two in Sturgis
Posted:   July 20, 2010

Monday, while Fitzgerald Stadium was submerged in water, the Bullets took a trip to Sturgis. The rain followed them, but it was not wet enough to call the games.

In the first game of the evening, in the first inning of play, there was a foul ball pop-up hit in no man's land between the catcher and first base; Dylan Evans and Jose Melendez both converged on the ball, and as Melendez made the catch, they collided into each other. Evans had to leave the game due to a knee injury, the severity of which is unknown. Jarran Jensen finished the game behind the plate, catching A.J. Schaefbauer.

In that game, Tanner Simons went 3 for 4 with a double and 4 RBI's, Colton Pryor hit 2 for 3, driving in 2 RBI's, Cale Fierro, Jarran Jensen, and Jose Melendez all went 2 for 4, with Fierro getting a triple, and Jensen hitting a double while adding 3 RBI's. Jesse Riddle went 2 for 3, hitting the other triple of the game, and Mike Krebs hit 2 for 3, driving in an RBI. Schaefbauer threw a solid complete game as the Bullets won in five innings, 14-4.

In the second game of the night, Cale Fierro went 4 for 5, hitting two singles, a double, and a triple, driving in 4 RBI's, Jose Melendez hit 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's, Mike Krebs went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's, Colton Pryor hit 2 for 5, knocking in 2 RBI's, and Blake Stone went 2 for 6. Bill Hendricks struggled with the wet clay on the mound during the evening, walking six and allowing 5 runs. Mike Krebs came in to pitch for the final out of the inning and  helped Hendricks get out of a bases-loaded, 2 out jam in the fifth. Then Tanner Simons came in to finish the job in the sixth and seventh innings. The final score of the game was 14-5.

The Bullets play two doubleheaders the 24th and 25th against Pierre at home. The Bullets will also play in the JR Northern Regional Tournament July 29th- August 1st.

Missed Opportunities Cost Bullets at Home
Posted:   June 28, 2010

The Bullets completed the Big Stick tournament winning one game and losing three.

In their first game on Friday, Jarran Jensen went 2 for 4 with an RBI,  Jose Melendez and Blake Stone both went 2 for 4, with Stone and Cale Fierro both collecting a double apiece on the night. Jesse Riddle pitched a good game, with Bill Hendricks coming in for relief, but it was not enough as the Bullets lost to Ellensburg, Wa., 4-2. The Bullets had 12 runners left on base in that game.

In the second game against Casper on Friday, Dylan Evans went 3 for 5 with a double; Jarran Jensen went 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Blake Stone also went 2 for 4. Jose Melendez started the game with Colton Pryor coming in to pitch in the fourth inning, and Mike Krebs relieving him in the seventh. Walks and passed balls hurt the Bullets' pitching, while the Bullets offense left 14 runners on base. As a result,  the team dropped another close game 11-13.

In the third game on Saturday, the Bullets offense exploded with 22 hits, 4 of them doubles, 2 of them triples, and three players hitting the ball off the outfield wall. Colton Pryor led the charge, hammering out 3 doubles in 5 at bats, and collecting 3 RBI's. Cale Fierro went 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI's, and Jesse Riddle went 3 for 4 with the other triple. Jarran Jensen went 3 for 3, hammering in 3 RBI's, while Mike Krebs went 1 for 4 with a double and 3 more RBI's. Jose Melendez batted 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Bill Hendricks and Blake Stone both hit 2 for 5 with Hendricks picking up an RBI. Dylan Evans started the game on the mound for the Bullets, and Tanner Simons threw 3 good innings of relief as the Bullets beat the other Ellensburg, Wa. team 16-13.

In the final game on Sunday, the Bullets struggled against a pitcher with a good off-speed pitch-collecting just 6 hits on the night. Cale Fierro had the Bullet's only multi-hit night, going 2 for 5 with an RBI. Fierro started on the mound for the Bullets, while A.J. Shaefbauer and Mike Krebs came in for relief in the game.
